Satisfying both distributed and focused sound reinforcement needs

Engineering Harmonics designed a major-league sound reinforcement system for the Paramount Centre, a 5,000-seat multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex that is home of the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads and the NBA Development League’s Raptors 905 team, and host of a diverse playbill, including live music concerts, internationally-televised figure skating championships, boxing and indoor rodeos.

Two blue-line loudspeaker clusters provide steered low frequency support and playing surface coverage, while additional loudspeakers raised into the hollow scoreboard provide the necessary musical timing and imaging for figure skating and other centre-stage events such as concerts and boxing.

A clean and powerful sound reinforcement system delivering high intelligibility, fidelity and low frequency response at sound pressure levels that professional sports fans have come to expect, with customizable coverage for a wide range of events.

“The new system has exceeded management and guest expectations by providing greater output and clarity, consistent coverage with seamless zone transitions, and the flexibility to tailor and optimize sound for all our events.” – Greg Socha, Manager, Paramount Centre

We retained Engineering Harmonics because we respect them and we respect the quality of their work—both the results they had obtained on their previous projects and the process they employed in achieving those results.

When I first went into the Rogers Centre, I was surprised at just how good the house system sounded.

We have some very traditional teachers in our program who literally could not imagine how they were going to be able to teach without a blackboard and chalk. If we hadn’t had Andrew Kozak on board we never would have been able to get our teachers to understand how they can teach better with this technology.

Within an hour they knew where my knowledge stopped and where theirs had to start — and they were very, very gracious about it, even though they play on the world stage. They brought world-class knowledge and home-town service to the project.
